Questions We Get Asked

Caravan Sounds operates from two bases: Rapid Creek in Darwin (NT) and Ringwood in Victoria. Free travel covers 50km from each base, taking in most of Darwin and metro Melbourne. Beyond that, extended travel is charged at $2.50/km. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we'll confirm any travel costs before anything is agreed.

A flat surface and a standard power outlet. If your venue doesn't have easy power access, a generator can be arranged. No marquee, no stage, no special setup required beyond the caravan itself. If you're unsure about your space, describe it when you inquire and we'll let you know what works.

It's designed for them. The caravan is purpose-built for outdoor events and handles heat, open spaces, and uneven ground, which makes it well-suited to Darwin's dry season conditions and Melbourne's outdoor wedding venues alike. For indoor venues, standalone DJ hire is the better fit. Describe your venue when you inquire and we'll work out the right option.

Weddings, corporate activations, brand launches, festivals, council events, birthday parties, and community events. In Darwin the dry season from May to October is peak period. In Melbourne, October through April books fastest for weddings. If you're not sure whether the caravan suits your event format, just ask. Most events work better than people expect.

Yes. Full wraps and custom decals are available to match your brand. Popular for product launches, NT government events, and brand activations at markets and festivals in both Darwin and Melbourne. Mention your brand requirements when you inquire and we'll work through the options with you.

The caravan is the full experience: the centrepiece, the photos, the presence. Standalone DJ hire is available for venues with space constraints or events that need something more low-key. Both options come with the same DJ expertise and music quality.

In Darwin, the dry season from May to October fills up fast and 6 months ahead is strongly recommended for that window. In Melbourne, wedding season runs October through April; 6 to 12 months ahead is ideal for weddings, and 3 months ahead works well for corporate events and functions. For either location, the earlier you lock in your date, the better.

Sarah Mac leads all bookings personally. For larger or multi-stage events, the wider team including DJ Tim Mac and The Rumpshaker can be added. This gets confirmed at booking, not on the day.

Get in touch with your location. Travel beyond the 50km free radius from either base is charged at $2.50/km. For remote NT events or regional Victoria, we'll confirm what's feasible and factor in any logistics early so there are no surprises closer to the date.

$20 million public liability cover is in place for all events. Sarah has contingency plans for power, weather, and the unexpected. If something comes up on the day, you won't be left managing it yourself.
